About the stone

Soapstone, also known as steatite, has been used for centuries across ancient civilisations for carving sacred objects and ceremonial pieces. It is believed to carry a calming, stabilising energy. The Hamsa is one of the oldest protective symbols in the world, recognised across Hindu, Islamic and Jewish traditions. The open hand with its eye at the centre is said to deflect the evil eye, invite blessings and bring its keeper peace, strength and good fortune.

Spiritual hamsa incense holder

The stone, up close

An open hand, carved by hand.

The Hamsa form is cut from a single piece of natural soapstone, with lotus and leaf detail worked into the centre of the palm. Soapstone is soft enough to take that much detail and strong enough to keep it, and every hand carries the carving slightly differently.

Chosen & charged

Real stone, by hand.

No filler, no fakes. Every holder is hand carved, cleansed and charged by singing bowl, and packed by hand before it reaches you.

Questions, answered

Is this really hand carved?

Yes. Each Hamsa holder is carved by hand from natural soapstone, including the lotus and leaf detail at the centre of the palm. Slight variations in colour, texture and carving depth are the mark of authentic handcraft rather than a moulded copy.

How many incense sticks does it hold?

It has a single hole that holds one standard incense stick securely, and the carved surface catches the ash as it falls.

What does the Hamsa symbol mean?

The Hamsa is one of the oldest protective symbols in the world, recognised across Hindu, Islamic and Jewish traditions. The open hand with an eye at its centre is said to deflect the evil eye, invite blessings and bring its keeper peace, strength and good fortune.

Where should I place it?

Place it on your altar, by your entrance or in your meditation space to invite protection and positive energy into your home. It also makes a meaningful gift for housewarmings and new beginnings.

How do I clean and care for it?

Let the holder cool fully, then brush the ash away with a dry cloth or a soft brush. Soapstone is porous, so avoid soaking it or using harsh cleaners. A lightly damp cloth is enough for marks, and it should be dried straight afterwards.
